Flashing LEDs lights on battery

What are the different causes to a flashing battery? What can be done on site?

The Human-Machine Interface (HMI) is the primary source of communication between the battery and end users of UgoWork systems. In this article, we explain how to interpret flashing LEDs and what can be done on site for specific situations.

Battery initialization

When the ON/OFF  switch is turned from the OFF position to the ON position, it starts an initialization sequence, during which it verifies that all the required conditions are met.

The LEDs then start flashing, waiting for a human interaction with the battery to start up. The action button must be pressed in order to start using the system. The LEDs will then stop flashing and the remaining number represents the current state of charge of the battery.

Battery fault

The battery has numerous safety features and conditions that are continuously monitored 24/7. This is what allows us to provide maximum uptime to end users and dealers and make sure the products in operation are safe to use.

When the battery detects an anomaly that is considered low to medium in criticality, it protects itself and turns into a “battery fault” state. In this case, the battery can usually be resetted and go back in operation. Please refer to this knowledge base article referring to battery resets.

If the battery LEDs are still flashing after the first reset attempt, proceed with the following steps:

  • Proceed to conduct another battery reset, making sure that the forklift is shut OFF.
  • If this not working still, proceed to another battery reset with the SB connector, which allows the battery to power the forklift even if disconnected.
  • Go to the next section below.

Battery trip

When the battery is not able to start up, even after a battery reset, it is considered as a “battery trip.” This is often caused by a defective component inside the battery that prevents it from functioning normally. If the LEDs are still flashing after several battery resets, make sure to contact service@ugowork.com or call 1-866-615-2191 to get immediate assistance.
